Dr Benjamin Miller, Co-Host and LO Team Lead

Dr Miller is a Senior Lecturer in English and Writing at the University of Sydney. His research examines Indigenous resistance to and within colonial literary archives.

Dr Miller is the Local Organising Team Lead.

Dr Beck Wise, Co-Host

Dr Wise teaches and researches at the University of Queensland in professional, technical and academic writing, with specialisations in technical writing, the rhetoric of science, visual communication, writing in digital environments, and gender studies.

Dr Wise’s expertise in GenAI and writing and the role of writing studies in Australasian Higher Education is leading the Local Organising Team’s efforts to ensure WRAB2026 both showcases and supports research in the region.

Dr Jiva Lamsal, Co-Host

Dr Lamsal teaches writing and rhetoric at the University of Sydney. He is expert in South Asian performance traditions—especially ritual, festival, and community-based practices—highlighting relational and culturally grounded modes of communication beyond dominant Western models.

Dr Lamsal’s performance-based and intercultural perspective is leading the push for diverse, inclusive and justice-centred approaches to writing research at WRAB2026.

A/Prof Susan Thomas, Co-Host

Susan is the founder of the Writing Hub and Writing Studies program at the University of Sydney. Her current research interests include approaching Generative Artificial Intelligence as a site of rhetorical collaboration and establishing narrative ethics in Writing Program Administration.

Together with Beck Wise, Susan co-authored the site proposal for WRAB2026, which marks the first meeting of WRAB in Oceania.

Cana Nongkhlaw, RA

Cana Nongkhlaw is a PhD candidate in English and Writing at the University of Sydney. Her research investigates Indigenous Khasi approaches to education and writing. 

Cana is a research assistant supporting the Local Organising Team.
