Camperdown Campus, University of Sydney
The University of Sydney enrols over 70,000 students and employs close to 10,000 staff. It is not only a national leader in education and research, but highly regarded according to many international league tables. The University of Sydney ranked 18th globally and 1st nationally in the QS 2025, and 18th and 20th globally in the US News 2025-26 rankings for subject-specific strengths in Gen AI and Arts/Humanities respectively.
The Camperdown Campus is the main campus of the University. It is a 25min drive from Sydney International Airport. There are comfortable accommodation options in suburbs such as Camperdown, Forest Lodge, Newtown, Macdonaldtown, Redfern, Surry Hills, Alexandria, Darlington, Ultimo and the CBD. Further accommodation options, including hotel special booking rates, will be communicated along with notice of acceptance of abstracts in early May 2026.
The famous Quadrangle building is an excellent example of neo-Gothic, nineteenth-century architecture. Keen-eyed observers will spot Australian-themed gargoyles – kangaroos, koalas, and other uniquely Australian animals carved into the sandstone. Recent buildings, such as the Arts and Social Sciences building and the Business building, are state-of-the-art venues that are likely to be locations for some WRAB2026 events.
Getting to Sydney
Sydney is the top travel destination in Australia, and is a quick 1.5-hour flight from Brisbane and Melbourne. Plus, there are direct flights into Sydney from major cities around the world, including, but not limited to, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Honolulu, Vancouver, Auckland, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Singapore, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Seoul, and Santiago. Nearby attractions include the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, Royal Botanic Garden, Chinatown and Haymarket, Darling Harbour, and The Rocks District (original convict settlement). There is a Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of NSW, State Library of NSW, and Sydney Observatory. Regional New South Wales is also easily accessible, with tours departing daily for the Hunter Valley (wine region north of Sydney) and the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains (eucalypt forest region west of Sydney popular with hikers, cyclists and rock climbers). Sydney is serviced by an excellent public transport network of buses, trains, and light rail, which makes getting around the city extremely easy. Taxis and Ubers are also plentiful.
Arguably, the best way to see the Harbour is with a public transport ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly (approx. 30mins), where lunch and an ice cream along the boardwalk provide a perfect break in the round trip.
